Sending an enquiry
To contact an advertiser, open the advertisement and select "Send enquiry". You must be signed in. You cannot enquire about your own advertisement.
- The enquiry goes to the person who created the advertisement.
- It starts a conversation between you and the advertiser about that advertisement. Later enquiries about the same advertisement continue the same conversation.
- Enquiries and messages can be up to 1000 characters.
- You can only enquire while the advertisement is live and available.
Your sent and received enquiries are listed under Enquiries.
Conversations
Open Messages to see your conversations. Only the two people in a conversation can read it. A conversation stays available after the advertisement closes.
- Advertisers see your display name. You see the advertiser as "Private lister" unless they chose to show their name, or their professional name if they are an agent. Names are shown only while the advertisement is active and your own account is in good standing; for a closed, expired or suspended advertisement you see "Private lister".
- Each conversation is one row: the advertisement, who sent the last message, their Person ID, a contact e-mail, when the last message was sent and whether you have unread messages. You see the other person's Person ID only when their name is shown to you.
- Contact email shows the other person's contact e-mail only when that advertiser chose to share it with signed-in members on that advertisement, whoever sent the last message. Otherwise it says "Not shared" (they did not share it, or the other person is the one enquiring), "Not provided" (they share contact details but have not added an e-mail), or "Not available" (the advertisement is closed, expired or suspended, or your account is not in good standing). Your log-in e-mail is never shown to anyone.
Important: Never send passwords, card numbers or bank log-in details in a message.
In-app notifications
Notifications appear on the Notifications page. They tell you that something happened, such as a new application, a request for information, a decision or a tenancy document ready to sign, and link you to the right page.
Notifications refer to references such as APP, ADV or DOC rather than showing personal details. Unread notifications are marked. Use "Mark all as read" to clear them.
- Each notification is one row: what happened, the related record (APP / ADV reference), the source (PlaceNest, and the role involved where it is known, such as the applicant), the date and time, whether you have read it, and an action such as Review, Respond or View. On a phone each notification is a card.
- Open "Full message" to read the complete wording. Messages about a decision, a shortlist or a request for your consent are always shown in full.
- You can search, filter (unread, asks you to act, activity type, date), group and sort your notifications, and save that arrangement as your default.
- If you can no longer open the related record (for example, your access was removed), the notification says "No longer available" and offers "Mark read" instead of a link.
What PlaceNest e-mails contain
Some events also send an e-mail to the verified e-mail address on your account. For example: an application received, a request for more information, a decision, an invitation to review an application, or a tenancy document ready to sign.
- What e-mails include
- A short fixed message, the relevant reference (such as APP-000000000) and a link to sign in to PlaceNest.
- What e-mails never include
- Application answers, names of other people, documents or attachments. Sign in to PlaceNest to see protected content.
Important: PlaceNest will never ask you for a password, bank details or documents by e-mail.
What "sent" means for an e-mail
Where PlaceNest shows an e-mail as sent, it means the e-mail service accepted the message for sending. PlaceNest cannot confirm that it reached the person's inbox. If someone did not receive an e-mail, ask them to check their junk folder, or share the information another way where the page offers it.
Secure review links
When someone invites you to review an application, you receive a secure link. The link works once, only for someone signed in with the invited e-mail address, and expires after 14 days.
- Accepting only confirms that you control that e-mail address. It does not verify that you own or manage the property.
- Nothing about the application is shared until you accept and the applicant agrees to share it with you.
- Do not forward the link to anyone else.
Replying to PlaceNest
Replying to a PlaceNest e-mail reaches PlaceNest Support. You can also contact Support from the Support page when signed in, and follow the status of your request there.
