Permanent references
PlaceNest gives important records a permanent reference, such as APP followed by nine digits (in this guide shown as APP-000000000). A reference never changes and is never reused, so everyone can talk about the same thing.
- PRP — Property
- The home itself. A property keeps the same PRP over time, even when it is advertised again.
- ADV — Advertisement
- One advertisement for a property or room. It is given when the advertisement is first published. Reactivating an archived advertisement keeps its ADV; relisting creates a new advertisement with a new ADV.
- APP — Application
- One application for one advertisement. It is given when you start the application. Every updated version stays under the same APP.
- TEN — Tenancy
- The tenancy documents prepared after an application is approved or selected in PlaceNest.
- DOC — Document
- One tenancy document, such as a tenancy agreement or condition report. A correction is a new document with a new DOC.
Important: A reference only identifies something. Knowing a reference does not give anyone access to it.
Other references you may see
- REQ — Housing requirement
- A description of the home a seeker is looking for.
- SRQ — Service request
- A request for a home service, such as cleaning or plumbing.
- PRV — Service provider
- A service provider's profile.
- LED — Service lead
- One provider's response to one service request, and the conversation that follows.
- USR — Account
- A PlaceNest account. It appears next to a person's name where you are allowed to see who took part in a workflow, for example the applicant on an application you are reviewing.
- AGY — Agency
- A real-estate agency profile on PlaceNest. An agency is shown only when the agent's membership has been confirmed within PlaceNest; it is not a verification of the agency's licence or authority.
- SUP — Support request
- A request you sent to PlaceNest support. You can see its reference on the Support page.
Why you see both names, addresses and references
PlaceNest shows both names or property details and permanent reference numbers. Names and addresses make records easier to recognise. Reference numbers help PlaceNest uniquely identify a record when names or properties are similar — two people can share the same name, so where you are allowed to see who took part, a person's name is shown with their USR reference.
Important: A name shown in PlaceNest is the name the person entered (for example their display name, or the name they typed on an application). PlaceNest does not verify names or identity, and a name never shows that someone owns or manages a property.
An address is easy to recognise. References are exact: one property can have several advertisements, and one advertisement can have many applications. Showing both helps you check you are looking at the right one.
Applications received are grouped by property first, then by advertisement, then by application, with a count for each status.
When the address appears in an application
In the application workflow, people who are part of that application see the property address alongside the references:
- The advertiser and the reviewers authorised for the advertisement.
- The applicant, once the application is submitted. While it is a draft, the applicant sees only the property type and suburb.
- An invited reviewer, only after they have accepted the invitation and the applicant has agreed to share the application with them.
- The parties to tenancy documents.
Important: This does not make the address public. The public advertisement keeps its own address privacy setting.
Quoting references to support
When you contact PlaceNest Support, quote the relevant APP, ADV or PRP reference (or TEN or DOC for tenancy documents). This helps us find the right record without you sending personal details.
Good to know: Do not send passwords, bank details or identity documents to support.
